Leaks Point to vivo X500 Ultra for Early 2027 and a Higher-Spec, Pricier Galaxy S27 Series

Leaks reported on September 22, 2026 point to a March or April 2027 launch window for vivo's X500 Ultra, and to 12GB base RAM with newer memory standards across Samsung's Galaxy S27 lineup.

vivo's X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max went on sale in China on September 21, and the X500 Ultra may already have been acknowledged by the company. According to the Weibo leakers Smart Pikachu and Digital Chat Station, vivo revealed that the X500 Ultra was in development and would launch in March or April next year. A screenshot posted by Smart Pikachu purportedly shows a vivo executive confirming the launch window. Android Authority said it could not verify the claims and that vivo had not responded to its request for comment.

Earlier Ultra models suggest what the phone might carry. The X200 Ultra shipped with a 35mm main camera and an optional 200mm add-on lens, while the X300 Ultra offered a 400mm external lens. Android Authority reported that the X500 Ultra could repeat the 35mm main camera and ship with similar camera accessories, alongside flagship Snapdragon silicon and an emphasis on video capture.

The wider X500 series may also reach markets outside China. The X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max have been listed in the European Union's EPREL database, a listing that points to a broader release, although no date has been given.

For Samsung, leaker Lanzuk, writing on the Korean blog Naver and citing Weibo and Korean industry sources, listed the memory and storage combinations for the Galaxy S27 series. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is listed at 12GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB of storage, and at 16GB of RAM with 1TB. The Galaxy S27 Pro is listed at 12GB of RAM with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB. The standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus are listed only at 12GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB.

The same leak states that the Ultra and Pro models will likely use UFS 5.1 storage and LPDDR6 memory, a step up from the UFS 4.0 and LPDDR5X used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Earlier leaks suggested the S27 Ultra could use the Exynos 2700 in some regions and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in markets such as the United States. Leaks have also pointed to Samsung's in-house M16 OLED panel on the S27 Pro and Ultra, and to a move from the M13 panel to the M14 panel already used on the Galaxy S26 Ultra for the standard Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus.

Higher base memory, new display panels and new chipsets together suggest a price increase when the Galaxy S27 series launches, which is expected next year. Samsung has not confirmed the specifications.
