Lego's October lineup adds Santa Holiday Countdown, Buddy the Elf, UK-only Wallace & Gromit and Wednesday sets

The most prominent addition is the Santa Holiday Countdown, which places Santa Claus in a chimney with an adjustable countdown clock built into it. TechRadar said it is too early to think about the holiday season but noted that Lego apparently did not get that memo, and the writer expected the set to be popular. A Buddy the Elf set also joins the lineup, complete with candy canes, which the report described as one of the four main food groups.

For UK residents, TechRadar highlighted Aardman's overdue Lego debut. Builders can replace plasticine with bricks and construct Wallace & Gromit on a motorbike and sidecar. The report said the US lineup is sorely lacking in new Halloween kits, while UK buyers can at least choose from a couple of new Wednesday-themed sets, which include plenty of black and gray bricks to sort.

TechRadar presented the US and UK kits separately and said the October selection has fewer new sets than in some earlier months. The report did not provide prices, release dates, or piece counts for the sets it mentioned. It also said the lack of Spooky Season sets was disappointing, even as it pointed to the holiday and licensed releases as the highlights of the month.
