Lenovo Puts Its First Googlebook 15 at $1,099.99, $200 Below Google's Stated Price
Lenovo has launched the Googlebook 15, its first Googlebook laptop, priced from $1,099.99 when it goes on sale Oct. 4, $200 under the $1,299 starting figure Google cited at last week's launch event.
Google said at that event that the Lenovo machine would be one of five Googlebook models in the first wave of devices built around its platform. Lenovo has now formally launched the 15-inch laptop and published its own pricing, which is lower than the figure the search company had publicized. Neither company has explained the difference.
The Googlebook 15 carries a 15.3-inch 2.8K OLED touch screen, the largest display among the Googlebooks available at launch. Lenovo says it is also the lightest 15-inch laptop in its portfolio, at 2.84 pounds (1.29 kilograms).
Inside, the machine runs an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor paired with either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256GB or 512GB of storage, and it draws power from a 70Wh battery.
Lenovo lists a 5MP webcam with a physical shutter, four speakers with Dolby Atmos, a fingerprint scanner, face unlock and the Glowbar included on the Googlebook reference design. For connectivity, the laptop offers Bluetooth 6.0 and Wi-Fi 7, along with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a full-sized USB 3.2 port, HDMI 2.0 output and a headphone jack.
The $1,099.99 entry price still sits above the $900 convertible Googlebook that Acer has announced, though the Lenovo model's larger screen may justify the gap for some buyers.
