Lenovo Smart Clock Essential owners report weather displays disappearing
Smart Clock Essential users report missing weather and outdoor temperatures; fixes are inconsistent and cause unknown.
The missing information is limited to the on-screen weather readout. Affected clocks no longer show the weather icon or outdoor temperature. Before-and-after photos cited in the report show a display that once carried the time, weather and temperature reduced to just the clock.
The Smart Clock Essential is part of Lenovo’s small bedside clock line, which has spent years handling basic tasks such as waking people up, answering questions, controlling smart-home devices and showing the weather at a glance. That usefulness persisted through Google’s messy transition from Assistant to Gemini, according to Android Authority.
Earlier this year, owners of the standard Smart Clock lost convenient touchscreen controls for their smart lights. The new reports indicate that some Smart Clock Essential users are now missing another practical feature: the weather display.
Reports of the missing weather display continue to surface across several countries. Android Authority reported that the cause is not known, and that attempts to restore the feature have not worked consistently. Voice forecasts remain available, so the clocks can still provide weather information when asked.
No explanation for the disappearance has been provided in the report. The issue leaves affected users with a bedside display that shows the time but no longer provides the at-a-glance outdoor conditions that the clock previously showed.
