Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i Aura Edition review: TechRadar backs 15-inch OLED model for mobile creators

TechRadar praises Lenovo Yoga Pro 7i Aura Edition's 15-inch OLED, RTX 5060 and portability for mobile creators.

TechRadar says the Yoga Pro 7i is a 15-inch counterpart to the Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition. The smaller screen—about an inch less than the 9i’s display—can make a difference when fitting the laptop into a backpack or onto a small cafe table, according to the review. TechRadar recommends the 7i for people who carry a laptop every day, while it says the 9i is likely the better choice for users who leave the machine at a desk and want more power and screen space.

The review highlights the 15-inch 2.5K 165Hz OLED touchscreen. TechRadar says the panel supports HDR True Black 1000, 100% sRGB, P3 and Adobe RGB, reaches 1,100 nits peak brightness and uses Lenovo’s PureSight technology. Although it is not a 4K screen, TechRadar says it looks sharper than its 2.5K resolution suggests and is color-accurate enough for creative work. The review lists the RTX 5060 GPU among reasons to buy and says the laptop has enough dedicated GPU for video work, enough RAM to run several lines at once, and a display suitable for photo editing.

TechRadar says it had the laptop in its testing queue for 178 days and used it for meetings, writing articles, benchmarking and carrying it in a backpack. The reviewer describes the Luna Gray finish, fast boot times and overall speed positively. The keyboard and trackpad are “spectacular,” according to the review, and the trackpad doubles as a drawing surface for the Yoga Pen. TechRadar says the drawing surface takes some getting used to and is not as seamless as drawing on the screen, but becomes fairly intuitive after use.

The port layout also met the reviewer’s expectations. TechRadar says the 15-inch size fits in most full-size laptop backpacks, including the reviewer’s Nomatic Navigator and Nomatic backpack. The reviewer says the 15-inch model is still slightly large for personal preference—14 inches is described as the sweet spot—but calls it manageable.

On price, TechRadar says the Pro 7i saves about $250 compared with the Yoga Pro 9i Gen 11 Aura Edition in the same configuration with the same CPU, GPU, RAM and SSD. The tested unit had a slight upgrade and was priced around $2,700, according to the review. TechRadar says the Pro 7i can be configured with up to 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB of SSD.

TechRadar’s main reservations are that buyers may find it worth stepping up to the Pro 9i and that the screen is not 4K. It concludes that the Yoga Pro 7i is aimed at creators who work on the go, while users who plan to keep the laptop at a desk may prefer the larger Pro 9i.
