Levoit Launches $189.99 Vital Pet Pro Air Purifier for Pet Hair and Odors
Levoit launched the $189.99 Vital Pet Pro Air Purifier, designed to capture pet hair, dander and odors, TechCrunch says.
The filtration system includes a washable pre-filter, a main filter and an activated carbon filter. The pre-filter is built to catch larger debris such as pet hair, while the main filter targets smaller particles and dander. The carbon filter, packed with 140 grams of activated carbon, is designed to address odors. Levoit also designed a U-shaped air inlet that it says captures airborne pet hair and particles while improving airflow and helping prevent the filter from clogging.
TechCrunch's reviewer tested the purifier for a little over a week and found it effective at collecting fur and trapping debris that would otherwise float around an apartment or settle on furniture. Levoit says the Vital Pet Pro can remove up to 70% of odors within an hour. The reviewer said a specific test could not verify that claim, but the room smelled considerably fresher after the purifier had been running.
The device also includes automatic cleaning technology that removes accumulated hair and debris from the pre-filter and collects it in a removable tray, a feature the reviewer called practical compared with repeatedly taking the purifier apart to clean out fur. A companion app offers modes intended to make the purifier more hands-off. Auto Plus Mode monitors air-quality changes and adjusts performance in real time. Pet Mode alternates between running the fan at its highest speed for 15 minutes to capture particulates in the pre-filter and then at a lower speed for 60 minutes to maintain air quality while reducing noise and energy use.
Rather than showing a numerical air-quality reading, the Vital Pet Pro uses a color system: red for bad air quality, orange for moderate, green for good and cyan for very good. The reviewer preferred this because it allows a quick glance at whether air is improving without interpreting a number. The reviewer also noted that the purifier is a little larger than expected and said users should make sure they have enough floor space. At its highest setting, the fan is audible, according to the review, but on a lower setting it is quiet enough to run overnight without disrupting sleep. Sleep Mode makes it run even more quietly.
