LG C6 OLED TV Gets Early Black Friday Discounts, Starting at $999.99

LG early Black Friday sale cuts C6 OLED TV to $999.99 (55-inch) and $1,399.99 (65-inch) through Nov. 1.

The 55-inch C6 is $400 off, and Amazon and Best Buy are matching that price. The 65-inch model is selling for $1,399.99, a $300 discount, at Amazon, Best Buy and LG. The 77-inch version is priced at $1,999.99 at Amazon. Shoppers who buy directly from LG also receive a free Xbox Wireless Controller and a complimentary wall mount. The promotion also covers various LG soundbars, according to the report.

The Verge reported that the C6 offers small upgrades over last year's C5, including a faster Alpha 11 AI Gen3 processor intended to improve picture and sound quality, along with a brighter display. It has a refresh rate of up to 165Hz for gaming, up from 144Hz, and retains four HDMI 2.1 ports. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync, the latter of which helps reduce screen tearing during games.

The TV carries standard OLED traits such as deep blacks, vibrant color and high contrast, according to the report. It supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and it includes built-in access to streaming services including Netflix and HBO Max. Google Cast and Apple AirPlay 2 allow content sharing from phones, while Matter support allows pairing with smart home devices.

The Verge also noted that researchers recently raised concerns about how LG's smart TVs collect and log user data. LG has responded to some of the accusations, saying its TVs do not continuously record conversations and that features such as voice recognition and interest-based advertising are optional and disabled by default. The report said LG has not addressed all concerns, while similar data-collection practices are not necessarily unique to LG TVs and do not detract from the C6's feature set.
