LG Components to Be Tested Aboard Nuri Rocket in Fifth Launch

LG components will be tested aboard South Korea's Nuri rocket, set for its fifth launch Wednesday from the Naro Space Center.

The Nuri rocket is scheduled to lift off from the Naro Space Center in Goheung, about 330 kilometers south of Seoul, at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

LG Sciencepark has partnered with Unmanned Exploration Laboratory, a startup developing unmanned lunar exploration rovers, to place five types of components from LG affiliates in space. LG Group said this marks the first time that LG companies will jointly test their components in space.

The components include a camera module from LG Innotek Co., a battery pack from LG Energy Solution Ltd., and a power module, an attitude-control actuator and a satellite communications antenna from LG Electronics Co.

LG Sciencepark said it will verify whether the components operate properly under actual space conditions and use data collected during their operation to improve and advance the technologies.

The test is scheduled as part of the Nuri rocket's fifth launch. LG Group did not provide additional details on the mission profile or the expected duration of the component testing.
