LG Electronics U.S. Unit Signs Long-Term AI Data Center Chiller Deal
LG Electronics' U.S. subsidiary has signed a long-term agreement with AIR Control Concept to supply high-efficiency chillers and other cooling solutions for AI data centers totaling 5 GW, Yonhap News reported.
The deal covers high-efficiency chillers and other cooling solutions for AI data center thermal management, with a total capacity of 5 gigawatts, the company said. The U.S. subsidiary will supply the equipment gradually under the agreement.
LG Electronics said it secured more than 600 billion won, or about US$446 million, worth of AI data center cooling solution orders in the first half of the year. It expects to reach its annual order target of 1 trillion won this year, one year earlier than originally planned.
Market research firm Omdia expects global data center power demand to rise from 226 GW this year to 334 GW next year, according to the report.
