Lissome R1 Countertop Dishwasher Needs No Plumbing for Renters

Lissome R1, a compact countertop dishwasher at IFA 2026, features a manually filled tank that removes the need for plumbing.

The R1 measures 280 mm wide, 507 mm deep and 502 mm tall. Its key feature is a manually filled water tank, so it does not need to be plumbed in. This allows users to place it flexibly and take it with them when moving homes.

TechRadar reported that Lissome positions the R1 as a main dishwasher rather than an overflow unit. The machine can hold up to 34 items, which Lissome says covers place settings for three people. The company said the product is intended for homes where conventional assumptions about cabinet openings, fixed plumbing and spare worktop space do not hold.

The dishwasher has glass windows on three sides, giving owners a view inside the wash cycle. Inside, Lissome uses what it calls the World’s First Sweeping Jet Technology, with two rotating arms that send coordinated arcs of water across the full chamber. Six preset programs include Quick Wash, which combines 13 minutes of washing with two minutes of steam-release drying, and Smart Wash, which employs an AI-powered sensor that detects water turbidity and grease levels, then adjusts the cleaning cycle and detergent dosage.

Lissome said in a statement cited by TechRadar: “Dishwasher ownership often assumes a cabinet opening, fixed plumbing and unused worktop space. R1 is designed around the homes where those assumptions do not hold, giving users a compact alternative without asking them to redesign the kitchen first.”
