Logitech launches $99.99 MX Keypad for coding and AI workflows
Logitech today introduced the MX Keypad, a $99.99 accessory with nine customizable LCD keys for coding and AI workflows. The compact device supports GitHub Copilot, community plugins, and app-aware profiles, and is now available in graphite and pale grey.
The keypad is positioned as a more affordable alternative to Logitech's MX Creative Console. The new product offers the same LCD keypad experience without the separate dialpad, at half the Creative Console's $199.99 list price.
Users can customize each key through Logitech's free Logi Options+ app, assigning shortcuts, saved prompts, scripts, and macros. Two page buttons provide access to up to 15 pages, while app-aware profiles automatically switch layouts when moving between applications. That means the same physical buttons can offer different actions in VS Code, Slack, Chrome, or other apps.
Logitech developed the MX Keypad in collaboration with GitHub. It includes GitHub Copilot integration in VS Code, plus three free months of Copilot Pro+ for new and existing users, redeemable through Logi Options+. Logitech also says community plugins for Claude Code and OpenAI Codex provide features such as agent status tracking and terminal controls. Developers can build custom plugins using the Logi Actions SDK, which supports C# and Node.js.
In a hands-on test reported by 9to5Mac, an AI coding agent was used to program custom buttons in Logi Options+, demonstrating how the keypad can be configured by AI. The test highlighted the device's appeal: putting frequently used prompts and actions onto dedicated, labeled buttons.
The MX Keypad measures approximately 3.6 by 3.1 inches and weighs 96 grams. It connects over USB-C and requires macOS 13 or later, or Windows 10 or later. Logi Marketplace supplies plugins, profiles, and icon packs, and a built-in icon editor lets users personalize each key's appearance.
