Lumos Robotics Unveils MOS2, World's First Wheel-Armed Robot with 50kg Dual-Arm Payload
Lumos Robotics launched MOS2, a heavy-duty wheel-armed robot with 50kg dual-arm payload, aimed at real industrial tasks and continuous skill learning.
Yu Chao, founder and CEO of Lumos Robotics, said that embodied intelligence is accelerating into the industrial deployment stage, and how efficiently robots complete more real tasks depends on data acquisition efficiency, hardware cost, and industrial delivery efficiency. Under this judgment, MOS2 is positioned as a heavy-duty AI Worker for industrial scenes, combining a body capable of 7×24-hour continuous work with environmental perception, task understanding, and autonomous operation.
Many industrial tasks still require simultaneous load capacity, flexible movement, and complex manipulation, but mature embodied intelligent robot solutions for such scenarios remain scarce. MOS2 addresses this gap with its 50kg dual-arm payload, integrating mobility, perception, and manipulation to offer a new solution for heavy-duty industrial operations.
The robot stands about 1.65 meters tall, covers about 0.5 square meters, and requires a passage width of about 0.8 meters. It has 22 degrees of freedom, including a dual-DOF head and an omnidirectional chassis, enabling flexible movement and broader environmental adaptability. The perception system includes dual multi-line LiDAR on the base, wrist cameras, dual six-axis force sensors, and a binocular head camera, with optional top rear radar and chest depth vision, forming a multi-modal perception suite for environment awareness, visual recognition, and force feedback.
The dual-arm system is the core hardware upgrade. MOS2 can carry up to 50kg with both arms and uses standard flanges and integrated interfaces for quick tool changes, allowing flexible configuration based on tasks. In heavy-duty handling, it can move heavier materials; in flexible loading and unloading, its vision and force control adapt to changing workpieces; in auxiliary operations, dual-arm coordination supports more complex interactions.
For long-term industrial operation, MOS2's wiring harness passed 5 million durability tests, and the dual hot-swappable battery design enhances operational convenience. These capabilities together form the execution foundation for an AI Worker to enter real production environments.
To enable continuous skill learning, Lumos pairs MOS2 with the Lumos NexCore system. NexCore creates a complete learning loop: users can define tasks, feed real, simulated, and video data, automatically train and optimize parameters to form skills, verify through multi-dimensional evaluation, and deploy to the robot. Data from real operations flows back to support further learning. This allows MOS2 to accumulate experience and improve skills as it works, rather than remaining a one-time training result.
