Lyte raises $165M at $1.6B valuation to expand robotics perception platform

Lyte AI raised $165M at a $1.6B valuation to scale its robotics perception platform, the company said Sept. 2.

Founded by former Apple and PrimeSense engineers who worked on Face ID and helped bring 3D perception to Microsoft Corp.'s Kinect, Lyte has shipped custom silicon, multimodal sensors and spatial software for intelligent robotics since its stealth launch in January 2026. “Physical AI has a sensing problem before it has a model problem. A robot cannot act safely on data that does not faithfully describe the world,” said Chief Executive and co-founder Alexander Shpunt. The company argues that accurate perception is a prerequisite for the current push to build robot foundation models, because deployed robots depend on high-fidelity sensors and vision built into the machines themselves.

SiliconANGLE reported that most robotics platforms currently rely on off-the-shelf cameras, infrared and laser tracking components. Lyte contends those generic components were never designed to work as one integrated system and can introduce delays, calibration drift and noisy data. To address that, the company developed LyteVision, a platform combining vision, high-resolution imaging and inertial sensors in a synchronized system. Custom silicon inside the platform measures motion natively rather than reconstructing it after the fact from cameras and sensors via software, giving robots data they can trust at the source.

“Owning the silicon separates companies that define a category from those that participate in one. Lyte controls every layer of how a robot understands the world and is now taking that breakthrough engineering into production,” said Chairman Avigdor Willenz.

The company said the financing will be used to scale production of its sensing silicon and sensor platform, advance its AI and perception capabilities, and expand deployments to robotics companies and industrial customers. The round included participation from Fidelity Management & Research Company, which led Lyte's Series B, along with Atreides Management, Key1 Capital, Ora Global and other existing and new investors.
