macOS 27 Golden Gate adds three key upgrades to iPhone Mirroring

macOS 27 adds a resizable window, Control Center access, and DRM video support to iPhone Mirroring, 9to5Mac reports.

The most significant update is the ability to resize the iPhone Mirroring window. Earlier versions of macOS offered only three preset sizes: smaller, actual size, and larger. With macOS 27 and iOS 27, users can adjust the window size with any iOS 27-compatible app. At present, that capability works only with Apple's native iPhone apps, but 9to5Mac reported that support will expand rapidly once developers release iOS 27 updates later this year.

Control Center access is another addition. iPhone Mirroring previously did not allow users to open Control Center. In macOS 27, users can access it with the CMD+4 keyboard shortcut or through the View menu in the Mac's menu bar, according to the report.

DRM video support allows protected videos to play through iPhone Mirroring on a Mac. Previously, 9to5Mac said, all DRM-protected videos displayed a black screen when iPhone Mirroring was enabled. The change means users can watch that protected content without leaving the mirrored iPhone interface.

macOS 27 also introduces a new app icon for iPhone Mirroring, matching the refreshed icons for many other built-in Apple apps.

The changes arrived after Apple released iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate last month. 9to5Mac's report asked readers how often they use iPhone Mirroring and whether they had tried the macOS 27 changes.
