macOS 27's Safari Adds Notify Me Feature for Webpage Change Alerts

Safari can now notify users when webpages change. With Notify Me, a user can ask Safari to watch a page for a particular update. When setting up a custom notification, the user tells Safari what to look for and can set a regular schedule ranging from hourly to monthly. After setup, Safari checks the webpage according to the selected schedule and notifies the user when it detects the requested change. 9to5Mac listed examples including a price drop, an item coming back in stock, changes to policies, registrations opening, or new information being added to a page.

To set up the feature, a user opens Safari and goes to the webpage they want to monitor. The user then clicks the Page menu button to the right of the Smart Search field and selects Notify Me from the pop-up menu. In the "What should Safari look for?" field, the user describes what they want. Apple Intelligence analyzes the page's contents to determine whether it can handle the request, according to the report.

The user can optionally set how often and when Safari should check for updates. Hourly and Daily options let the user choose a specific time, while Weekly and Monthly options also let the user choose specific days. The user then clicks Done. If Safari shows a Next button instead, macOS asks for permission to send Safari notifications. Safari notification permissions can also be managed from Settings > Notifications > Safari, 9to5Mac reported.

Because the feature relies on Apple Intelligence, it may not be available in all languages or regions, the report said. 9to5Mac directed readers to a link to check current availability. The report also asked readers for creative ideas about how to use Safari's new Notify Me feature.
