Magico Reworks A3 Floorstander as A3 2027 With All-New Drivers
Magico has fully reworked its A3 floorstanding speaker as the A3 2027, with new drive units and cabinet damping drawn from its M9 flagship. It is priced at $25,000 a pair in the US and £28,998 in the UK.
The A3 2027 is priced at $25,000 in the United States and £28,998 in the United Kingdom, or about AU$60,000 a pair. That keeps it at the top of the consumer market despite being positioned below the Californian brand's largest models; Magico's M7 sells for $560,000 and its S7 for $200,000. TechRadar's writer noted that the UK price would cover a small holiday home in the Cairngorms.
The three-way design pairs a 28mm tweeter with a 5-inch midrange driver and two 7-inch woofers, in what TechRadar described as a total overhaul of the previous model's audio set-up. The midrange and woofer units use aluminium-honeycomb cores, and each driver is fitted with a motor system intended to stabilise it and limit distortion in music.
Changes extend to the structure rather than the appearance alone. Magico applied constrained-layer damping together with what TechRadar called smart brace and bolt placement to create a quiet enclosure that avoids unwanted resonance, while the cabinet keeps the brand's cuboid shape with rounded corners.
Several of those systems are carried over from Magico's more expensive M9, according to TechRadar, so the A3 2027 draws on technology developed for the flagship model. TechRadar said the new speaker had yet to be reviewed by the publication and did not give a release date beyond the model designation.
