Marshall Stockwell III review: TechRadar calls it a stylish, powerful upgrade with no price increase

According to TechRadar, the Stockwell III produces impressively powerful audio for its size, thanks to a three-inch woofer with 65W Class D amplification and two 1.75-inch wide-band drivers, each with 31W of Class D amplification. The sound is described as mighty, with regimented bass, driven mids, and expressive highs. The reviewer tested it with tracks like Sadao Watanabe’s “Home Meeting” and Lewis Taylor’s “Vision of Love,” noting that the speaker handled complex instrumentation with ease and delivered deep, controlled bass that did not overpower the midrange details.

The speaker extends down to 54Hz, though the reviewer found sub-bass not fully immersive. A slight bass preference exists, but the bass dial allows easy adjustment. Vocals, while clear, lacked some warmth and texture compared to other premium speakers, the review said.

On the features front, the Stockwell III includes USB-C audio for lossless wired playback and a 3.5mm port, but it omits LDAC for higher-resolution Bluetooth streaming — a feature seen in recent Marshall releases like the Acton IV and Stanmore IV. Despite this, the speaker benefits from Dynamic Loudness, which maintains clarity at high volumes, and True Stereophonic 360 sound, which eliminates a single “sweet spot” for a more immersive listening experience. The reviewer noted that the stereo effects are not particularly convincing due to the speaker’s compact size.

The Stockwell III currently uses the older Marshall Bluetooth app, rather than the newer software found on the Acton IV and Stanmore IV. TechRadar also pointed out that the speaker has seen no price increase over its predecessor, making it excellent value for money. The review concluded that it is easy to recommend, with only minor drawbacks such as the lack of LDAC and slightly less textured mids.
