Meituan Releases Fourth North Star Medical Aesthetics List in Hangzhou

Meituan released its fourth North Star Medical Aesthetics List in Hangzhou, covering 181 institutions and 269 doctors, while promoting AI tools for clinics.

Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu, Shenzhen and Shenyang were the main cities for the institution list. The list continued a dual-track evaluation system based on medical professionalism and user reputation and further deepened checks of professional ability and real experience.

Two authoritative professors served as chairs, while seven discipline leaders led nine category standard expert groups to build the evaluation standards. Seventy experts from public tertiary hospitals with more than 20 years of experience conducted anonymous cross-review, reviewing 9,922 hours of surgical videos and tracking 8,931 submitted cases. In addition, 38,547 real medical aesthetics consumers took part in a survey, alongside 4.5 million user reviews, to reconstruct on-site and service experiences.

'Medical aesthetics consumption demand continues to be released, and requirements for professionalism and authenticity are rising,' said Wang Dan, head of Meituan's medical aesthetics and beauty business. She said the North Star list aims to make each consumer's medical aesthetics choice more convenient and transparent and to help good institutions and good doctors be seen.

Beyond the list, Meituan Medical Aesthetics has also used AI to support institution operations. In June this year, it launched the AI digital operation platform MeiLink, equipping merchants with an AI digital expert named Meiling'er and 24/7 AI customer service. The AI capabilities are embedded in consultation reception, product operations and online store management. As of now, it has served more than 1,000 medical aesthetics merchants, received more than 30,000 consulting users, and more than 17,000 users left store visit intentions.

Consumer attention is shifting from what procedure to do toward what suits them. Rather than seeking a standardized change, more consumers care whether a doctor understands their needs, whether a plan matches personal features and whether they can retain their own recognizable identity. Yang from Fujian said during a consultation sharing, 'I just want to look better, but not unlike myself.' Her need was clear, but the choice was not: she had to understand institution qualifications, judge whether cases were edited, determine whether shared experiences were real, and assess whether a doctor's aesthetics matched her own. With abundant but dispersed information, verification is difficult.

The 2026 North Star list therefore examined specific stages of diagnosis, treatment and service that consumers cannot easily verify but that affect quality and experience. On professional review, the 70 experts anonymously watched surgical videos frame by frame for 9,922 hours and tracked 8,931 candidate cases, covering plan design, operating standards and recovery to examine a doctor's actual technical level. On real experience, the scope of user reputation review was expanded, with 38,547 real consumers surveyed and follow-up and case scores used to reflect real details of visits and services, while the review also referenced 4.5 million accumulated user reviews on the platform.

'Facing dispersed information and hard-to-verify professional content, Meituan Medical Aesthetics links all parties to build a set of evaluation standards for good institutions and good doctors, which greatly helps reduce consumers' decision costs,' said Professor Song Jianxing. The complex evaluation mechanism is ultimately translated into information consumers can reference. The institution list has 71 dimensions and 344 assessment points covering the full service process from entering to leaving a store, and the list presents review dimensions and user feedback so that an institution's advantages can be seen. The doctor list has 34 dimensions and 311 assessment points that balance operating standards, technical ability and aesthetic judgment, making a doctor's technical characteristics and aesthetic direction clear in the profile.

Wang Hongjun, an attending doctor at Shenzhen Lige Medical Aesthetics, has been listed for two consecutive years. He shared at the event that many out-of-town consumers learned about him through the list and traveled specially for consultations. He said that as information becomes more complex and consumers find it harder to verify, the North Star Medical Aesthetics List is becoming the most weighty coordinate in their minds.

The medical aesthetics industry is entering a new cycle centered on trust. Jiang Hua, director of plastic surgery at Shanghai East Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University, said, 'Honor is a spotlight, and also a magnifying glass. After being seen, one must withstand being seen.' Zhang Chong, founder of Zhimei Quality Medical Aesthetics, said the North Star list is a visible standard that turns what consumers consider good into quantifiable daily operations. Zhimei has been listed for four consecutive years and has continued to improve doctor training, diagnosis and treatment communication, and user services, effectively raising trust between the institution and consumers. He said the list makes institutions that invest long-term in medical quality and service experience easier for consumers to understand and choose, and also provides a reference for continuous improvement.

Meituan North Star Medical Aesthetics List also provides each participating institution and doctor with free differentiated evaluation files and improvement plans covering interpretations of various dimensions and improvement suggestions, to help institutions identify and improve problems and push the industry toward quality competition. Changzhou Shiermei Plastic Surgery Hospital, founded 14 years ago, was listed for the first time this year. Its head, Lin Jianqiang, said, 'We did not make it last year and felt it was a pity. Over the past year we made targeted adjustments and improvements, and finally made it. Meituan North Star is like a mirror, reminding us to continue improving.' Li Xiaohui, head of Meituan Pharmaceuticals and Health Business, said he hopes the list will push the industry toward development that values long-term trust and will deliver professional strength and real reputation to consumers in need.
