Meta Unveils Third-Generation Ray-Ban Smart Glasses and a $249 Meta Adventurer

According to Android Authority, the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) keeps the 12-megapixel camera and 3K video recording of the previous generation but moves to a slimmer frame that Meta describes as more comfortable and available in more styles and colors than before. The glasses come in three shapes: Aviator, Wayfarer and a new cat-eye frame called Zena. A limited-edition aviator in a vintage color marks the 90th anniversary of the Ray-Ban Aviator design.

Meta lists three hardware changes for the third generation: a battery rated for up to nine hours of runtime, a six-microphone array intended to improve noise cancellation, and professionally adjustable temple tips for a closer fit. The company also said an update later this year will allow users to record video in Dolby Atmos with 360-degree spatial sound. It did not specify whether older smart glasses will receive the feature, and Android Authority reported that support is likely to be limited to the newest Ray-Ban Meta model.

Meta also refreshed its Meta Glasses line. The Kylie Edition is now available in a new Ivory color at the same $399 price. A collaboration with LISA adds custom elements, including LISA's star design on the case and frames, plus special-edition case charms inspired by her pets. Those glasses come in two styles, the Meta Adventurer LISA Edition and the Meta Capri LISA Edition, both starting at $399 and compatible with prescription lenses.

The Meta Adventurer, which ships with a plug-in case, starts at $249. Pre-orders are open now and the glasses go on sale on October 23. When Meta introduced its Meta Glasses without Ray-Ban branding, it priced them at $299, making the Adventurer a further step down in price. The camera-equipped lineup was announced alongside new camera-free smart glasses from the company.
