Metroid Prime Remastered Cut to $27.99 in Nintendo Switch Sale
Nintendo’s Customer Appreciation sale runs through Sept. 26, with Metroid Prime Remastered digital at $27.99 and discounts on a Metroid art book, Flow, an Anker cable and a white Magic Keyboard.
The Verge described Metroid Prime Remastered as one of the best remasters it has played, saying it makes smart improvements to an already-great game. The 2002 GameCube title has updated textures and improved lighting, and it runs at a smooth frame rate. The control scheme does not require motion controls as the Wii re-release did. The Verge said most Metroid fans have already played the game, perhaps multiple times, but anyone who missed it has a reason to pick it up at the discounted price.
The sale also includes Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective, a 208-page hardcover art book covering the original trilogy. It is normally $49.99 and is priced at $28.50 at Amazon and Walmart. The Verge said the book includes quotes from people who worked on the games and offers an unusually candid look at Nintendo’s first-person shooter series and its game design philosophy. It could make a good holiday gift, according to the report.
Other deals highlighted by The Verge include the animated film Flow, which is available in 4K for $4.99 from Apple TV or Amazon, unless viewers have HBO Max to watch it on demand. The film follows a cat that survives a huge flood that leaves civilizations in ruin and relies on other animals to survive. The Verge called it one of the best animated movies of the past few years and said it is a fantastic way to spend 90 minutes.
Anker’s 2-in-1 USB-C cable is also discounted. The six-foot version is $15.99 at Amazon, $4 off its usual price. The cable has two heads and can charge two devices from a single charging port, with up to 140W for a single device, according to The Verge. The report said the deal is not new but the cable has never been cheaper and is a practical addition to a charging setup. The Verge said the cable is used to charge MacBooks, an iPad and occasionally a phone or Kindle.
Best Buy has discounted the white Magic Keyboard with Touch ID to $149.99. The black version’s $30 discount, which brought it to $169.99, is no longer available, according to The Verge. The white model is compatible with all Macs that have Apple silicon, dating back to M1 models, as long as they run macOS 15.1 or later. It recharges via USB-C and includes a full numerical pad and other keys for easier navigation.
