Microsoft Sets Oct. 7 Windows and Surface Event With Nvidia, Local AI in Focus

Microsoft will host a Windows and Surface event in San Francisco on Oct. 7, focusing on local AI, Nvidia RTX Spark and the broader PC ecosystem.

Microsoft describes the gathering as an event about “how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC,” according to Engadget. It comes a few months after Nvidia announced its first system-on-a-chip for Windows, the Nvidia RTX Spark, the report said. That timing makes the event a likely opportunity for Microsoft to share more information about the Surface Laptop Ultra, which the RTX Spark platform will power.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Microsoft Executive Vice President of Windows + Devices Pavan Davuluri will attend, Engadget reported. According to Microsoft, the three are expected to share the “latest innovations across Windows, NVIDIA RTX Spark, Surface and the broader PC ecosystem.”

The event also reflects a shared vision between Microsoft and Nvidia for the future of computing, Engadget reported. A key part of that vision is allowing AI agents to handle an increasing amount of normal computer work. Microsoft has already publicly shown hardware that could be part of that future through its Project Solara devices, according to the report. Computers powerful enough to run AI models locally could also support that kind of work, Engadget said, and the Surface Laptop Ultra, using Nvidia’s RTX Spark platform, appears designed for that exact workflow.

Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Ultra in June 2026 without sharing availability details, Engadget reported. Other laptop manufacturers have also introduced their own RTX Spark devices, but pricing for those machines remains unknown. The October event could be the place where Microsoft finalizes its plans, according to the report.
