Microsoft Sets October 7 Windows and Surface Event in San Francisco

Microsoft sets October 7 Windows and Surface event in San Francisco, focused on local AI and the PC's next chapter.

CEO Satya Nadella and Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri are scheduled to appear. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang will also be at the event, a lineup that The Verge says suggests RTX Spark PCs could be the main focus. If that proves true, The Verge reports, more details on pricing and availability for the Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra are likely to surface.

The Verge also expects Microsoft to discuss quality improvements to Windows and what is coming next for the operating system. The report says a surprise announcement of Windows 12 is not expected.

Microsoft last held a major Windows event in May 2024, when it unveiled new Arm-based Copilot Plus PCs and renewed its partnership with Qualcomm. Before that, its last major Windows event was in June 2021, when Microsoft announced Windows 11 during a live stream.

The Verge will cover the October 7 event live from San Francisco at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.
