Modded Gboard App Brings Rambler Voice Typing to Any Android Phone Without Root

Modded Gboard app PixelBoard brings Rambler voice typing to any Android phone without root, per Android Authority.

In a Reddit post, Kadam said he used Jason Wu's Gboard patch project as a starting point to build PixelBoard. The result is a modded version of Gboard with Rambler voice typing and writing tools enabled. Android Authority reported that the app can be installed easily from GitHub. It does not require root access, a detail that makes it simpler to install than many Android modifications.

Rambler is a voice typing mode that recently debuted on the Pixel 11 series. Gboard has many useful features, but a few are not available to non-Pixel users, and Rambler is one of them. Android Authority noted that users who have been waiting to try it on their own Android phones may find PixelBoard useful, especially if SwiftKey's AI voice mode has not provided the same experience.

Kadam also said the app will be updated regularly as new Gboard versions are released. That commitment suggests PixelBoard may continue to work with future versions of the keyboard, although the developer has not provided a detailed schedule. The project is available from GitHub, according to Android Authority.

For Google, Rambler and AI Writing Tools remain part of the feature set that separates Pixel phones from other Android devices. For non-Pixel users, PixelBoard offers a community-built route to those tools without root access. The developer has not announced a formal release schedule beyond saying updates will follow new Gboard versions.
