Motorola and GrapheneOS confirm premium phones launching in 2027, priced higher than Google's Pixel, expanding the privacy-centric OS beyond Pixel hardware.

The team announced the update on Mastodon, several months after the collaboration was first revealed. The upcoming Moto devices will not come preloaded with GrapheneOS, but they will be fully supported by the project, with assistance from Motorola itself. So far, Google's Pixel phones are the only devices that have met GrapheneOS's strict hardware requirements for the highest level of security and privacy.

GrapheneOS, based on Android, includes features such as enhanced memory protection, granular network permissions, customizable app sandboxing, and a duress code that can wipe the phone. The duress code made headlines earlier this year when an activist used it to delete data during a customs interrogation and was later charged with a felony.

The GrapheneOS team said the upcoming Motorola devices will be premium flagship phones, with pricing expected to be even higher than Pixel models. The current Pixel lineup starts at $900 for the base Pixel 11, a $100 increase from last year, while the Pixel 11 Pro XL now costs $1,300.
