Motorola Signature 27 Beats Pixel 11 Pro in Android Authority Poll; Pixel 11 Pro XL Review Finds Strengths

Android Authority reported on Oct. 2, 2026, that Motorola Signature 27 won 73.9% of a 1,700-plus reader poll against Google Pixel 11 Pro. A separate 30-day review said Pixel 11 Pro XL delivered strong display, battery, camera and software experiences despite its price and weaker gaming performance.

In the poll, Android Authority asked readers to choose between the Motorola Signature 27 and the Google Pixel 11 Pro. Nearly three-quarters, or 73.9%, voted for the Motorola, leaving the Pixel with 26.1%. Android Authority said the result indicated three in every four readers in the poll would choose the dark horse over the established pick. It noted that its colleague Joe Maring had highlighted Motorola's faster Snapdragon chipset, its 'funky' styling, and far quicker charging speeds.

Readers in the comments, however, said the Signature 27's landslide win should not be viewed without context. Commenter j.alatalo65 wrote that Motorola hardware is often nice, but its software updates are often very slow compared with other brands. The commenter asked whether Motorola can be trusted when it promises seven years, and said their Motorola Edge 50 Neo was promised five OS updates but appeared to be stuck with Android 16. Commenter Ya_Boi_PookiePook said paper specs look great until a person actually lives with a device day after day, and that a Snapdragon chip and fast charging cannot compensate for delayed updates and patchy software support. The commenter said the Pixel 11 Pro delivers reliable day-one Android builds, cohesive feature drops, and proven computational photography that consistently hits without needing theoretical horsepower. Reader Mike said Motorola burned him years ago with zero Android updates and never again. Android Authority said Motorola still has some ways to go to patch what appears to be a damaged reputation, but that the Signature 27 goes a long way toward doing so.

In a separate article also published Oct. 2, 2026, an Android Authority reviewer wrote that they initially thought Google made a mistake with the Pixel 11 Pro XL. The reviewer questioned Google's higher prices for the Pixel 11 series and said the company is not geared up to match phones like the Galaxy S26 Ultra spec-for-spec. When buyers are put in the same price range, they have expectations, and Google reduced the base model's RAM, making people feel as though they paid more for less. After using the Pixel 11 Pro XL, the reviewer said the sticker shock melted away and the device showed why Pixels are still an enjoyable experience.

The reviewer said Google's new Gemini Intelligence features work well, the cameras are legitimately improved, and the Pixel 11 Pro XL offers more than expected for its price. The article said a premium flagship must excel in display, cameras, battery life, and user experience, and that the Pixel 11 Pro XL nails all four. Its 6.8-inch Super Actua display is described as the best Google has shipped yet, bright and vibrant enough to compare with the iPhone 18 Pro Max and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The reviewer said they easily got through two days of use on a single charge and had at least one occasion in recent weeks when that stretched into a third day. The phone is not a silicon-carbon battery and charging speeds could be faster, but full Qi2 compatibility and Pixelsnap accessories work well.

The reviewer called the Material 3 Expressive UI on the Pixel 11 Pro XL the best software experience available on a smartphone, with Android 17 described as friendly and intuitive. Gemini Intelligence, including Rambler for polishing speech-to-text paragraphs, finally seems useful in everyday use. Camera improvements include a larger telephoto sensor, sharper zoomed images, faster Night Sight processing, and default photos that are a bit more saturated. The Tensor G6 chipset may not produce the benchmarks enthusiasts want, but the reviewer said it moves the ball forward in areas buyers will notice more often.

The reviewer also noted drawbacks. The Pixel 11 Pro XL does not game as well as other similarly priced flagship phones, and titles such as Genshin Impact default to medium settings. The reviewer said it is not easy to ask people to spend $1,300 on a Pixel in 2026, but argued that Google's newest flagship offers more than one might expect for the price.
