Mozilla rolls out redesigned Firefox across desktop and mobile

Mozilla said it updated Firefox's themes, icons and colors to modernize the browser in line with features it has added recently, including a single off switch for generative AI tools, Engadget reported. The company said the redesign brings more features to Firefox and returns compact mode, a much-requested option that Mozilla previously removed. Compact mode minimizes the amount of screen space taken up by the toolbar and tabs, so users can see more of the website they are viewing.

Engadget reported that the new version also includes a theme picker with wallpaper options and the ability to organize shortcuts on the New Tab screen. Mozilla said privacy settings are easier to find, and it claimed the browser's performance has not been sacrificed. The company added that the new Firefox does not place tab groups, split view and vertical tabs front and center, but those features are still close at hand for users who want quick access. Mozilla also said it designed the customization options with accessibility in mind.
