My Pixel app now matches Pixel 11 colors, adds search tool
Google updated My Pixel app for Pixel 11, adding a color-matching icon and a search tool to help users find features.
On a Pixel 11 phone, the My Pixel app no longer shows its familiar blue icon. Instead, the icon adapts to reflect the color of the device, such as Olive on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold or Canyon on the Pixel 11 Pro XL. The change does not affect usability, but Android Authority notes that it makes the app called "My Pixel" actually look like your Pixel.
The color-matching icon is not available on older Pixel phones, which continue to show the existing blue icon. Android Authority described this as a missed opportunity, since it seems like a low-effort way to spread a little more Pixel joy to owners of legacy Pixel hardware, even if it is hardly a major selling point.
In addition to the icon change, the My Pixel app has gained the search tool that was spotted in development earlier this summer. The tool streamlines access to the app's many features by letting users search through them to find the most relevant option.
Both the color-matching icon and the search tool are available now on Pixel 11 phones.
