Narwal and iRobot launch new floor-care devices with steam, mist and edge-focused cleaning

Leiphone reported that Narwal’s new products are the JX Ultra robot vacuum and the S3 Steam floor washer. The JX Ultra extends and lifts its side brush with a mechanical arm and combines it with a track-style mopping system, a design the company says eliminates blind spots in wall edges, inner corners, under low cabinets and around doors. The vacuum offers 32,000 Pa of suction and washes its mop with water heated to 70 degrees Celsius, which Narwal says removes 98 percent of oily stains. The accompanying dock washes the mop at temperatures up to 100 degrees Celsius, dries it at 60 degrees and can contain dust for 120 days without maintenance. According to Leiphone, upgraded artificial intelligence and a new pet mode also allow the robot to recognize pet waste and avoid spreading it while cleaning.

The S3 Steam floor washer combines steam and hot water for the first time in a Narwal product, Leiphone reported. A 380-watt boiler produces steam at up to 400 degrees Celsius, and the steam remains at 100 degrees Celsius when it reaches the floor, killing 99.99 percent of bacteria. The roller is continuously soaked in water heated to 95 degrees Celsius, while a Max mode is designed to break down dried grease and coffee stains five times faster. Narwal also added a floating comb to prevent hair from tangling around the roller and a five-stage system to reduce leftover water marks on hard floors.

iRobot’s new flagship, the Roomba Max 875 Combo, uses a mist system to handle difficult messes, according to TechRadar’s report from IFA 2026. The machine’s ThermaMist function sprays warm ultrasonic mist onto stains to pre-treat them before mopping. Adam Pope, iRobot’s chief engineer and vice president of product planning and development, told TechRadar that heating occurs partly in the dock and partly through the mist-generation process itself, which limits added strain on the robot’s battery. The Roomba’s mop is larger than earlier models, spins faster, can extend toward room edges and uses a shield to avoid wetting carpets.

The Roomba Max 875 Combo also introduces iRobot’s SealForce component, a frame around the suction inlet that lowers to form a loose seal with carpet fibers. Pope said this directs airflow through deep carpet, crevices and grout lines. The company lists the model’s suction at 35,000 Pa, an unusually specific specification for iRobot. The Roomba is now on sale in Britain at £1,099, or about $1,490 and AU$2,060, TechRadar estimated. Its launch in the United States is paused because of a new FCC ban on foreign-made advanced robots, and iRobot was acquired by a Chinese manufacturing company earlier this year.
