Netgear Orbi 770 Wi-Fi 7 Mesh Router Hits Lowest Price at Amazon, TechRadar Says
TechRadar reports the Netgear Orbi 770 Wi-Fi 7 mesh system has fallen to its lowest price at Amazon, with the three-pack at £579 and the two-pack at £450. The publication rated the tri-band system 4.5 stars and named it its top pick for homes.
According to TechRadar, the Orbi 770 is aimed at home users and small businesses that need strong Wi-Fi coverage in every room without dead zones. The three-pack configuration includes one Orbi 770 router and two satellite units. TechRadar said it is built to blanket a larger home in strong signal, avoiding the dead zones a single router can leave behind.
The tri-band system takes advantage of Wi-Fi 7 speeds and can reach up to 11Gbp, TechRadar reported. Coverage extends up to 6,750 sq ft from the router and two satellites, which the publication said is ideal for large premises. It supports MLO, up to 100 connected devices and a 2.5 Gig internet port for full-speed fiber connections.
In testing, TechRadar found the Orbi 770 delivered "impressive Wi-Fi 7 speeds at a competitive price." The publication also said the system offered "excellent performance for home users and small businesses," scoring it 4.5 stars. Although it is cheaper than Netgear's flagship Orbi 970 series, TechRadar said it "doesn’t cut any corners when it comes to performance" and did a great job extending wireless connectivity to hard-to-reach areas of a house.
TechRadar gave the system bonus points for an easy-to-use app that lets users set up guest Wi-Fi accounts and IoT networks. It said the Orbi 770 is simple to get started with, though some features are locked behind an optional subscription. At £579, TechRadar said the three-pack is at an all-time low for the Orbi 770 series and described the system as a strong all-around performer at an affordable price compared with the Orbi 970. At the deal price, it is about on par with the Amazon eero 7 Pro, according to the publication.
TechRadar said buyers should consider the Orbi 770 if they want whole-home Wi-Fi 7 coverage to eliminate internet dead zones, especially if they have many devices or run a multi-gig fiber connection. It said buyers should skip it if they live in a flat or smaller house where a single router or the two-pack model would suit them better, or if they do not have Wi-Fi 7 devices and do not plan to future-proof or upgrade.
