New Apple TV 4K expected with Siri AI, faster chip and updated remote

Reports say a new Apple TV 4K could debut at the September 9 event, featuring Siri AI, a faster A-class chip, an N1 wireless chip, and an updated Siri Remote.

The updated Siri Remote is said to be in the works, though no details have been revealed. Code leaked in a build of macOS 26.7 appears to confirm its existence, and before that leak, Mark Gurman had reported that a tweaked Apple TV remote was possible. The changes may not be dramatic, but a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip for Precision Finding is expected.

Siri AI is expected to play a major role in the marketing of the new Apple TV and other Home products. Apple has not announced the assistant for Apple TV or HomePod, but evidence suggests tvOS 27 will include Siri AI, likely only on new hardware. Additional Apple Intelligence features, such as an improved search experience, may also arrive.

The current Apple TV 4K runs on the A15 Bionic chip introduced in 2021. The new model is expected to get a significant performance upgrade with a new A-class chip that enables AI features. Earlier rumors pointed to an A17 Pro or A18 chip, but those reports predate the Siri AI push, so a more powerful A19 or A20 chip is also possible.

The N1 wireless chip, which debuted in the iPhone 17, is also rumored for the new Apple TV 4K. It would add Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread networking support. The current Apple TV only offers Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.

As for the launch timing, the new Apple TV was originally expected last fall, but is now thought to be ready following Siri AI's completion. 9to5Mac notes that the September 9 event is a likely venue for the announcement.
