New Mac mini and Mac Studio models now available for pre-order on Amazon

Apple unveiled new Mac mini and Mac Studio models with M6 and M5 Ultra chips on Aug 25, and Amazon has started taking launch-day pre-orders. Prices start at $899 for the M6 Mac mini.

The new lineup introduces the M6 and M5 Ultra chips, promising faster performance and additional AI optimizations. The Mac mini comes in M6 and M5 Pro variants, while the Mac Studio is powered by M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips. Amazon's launch-day pre-order prices for the Mac mini start at $899 for the M6 with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, $1,099 for the 16GB/512GB version, $1,299 for the 24GB/512GB model, and $1,699 for the M5 Pro with 24GB/512GB.

Amazon is also selling a slightly updated Magic Keyboard, with the standard model at $99, the version with Touch ID at $149, and a black Touch ID model with numeric keypad at $199. However, Amazon does not carry the new Mac Studio, nor does it offer custom configurations. For customers seeking those options, buying directly from Apple is the better choice, according to 9to5Mac. Apple's store lists the M6 Mac mini from $899 (or $799 for education), the M5 Pro version from $1,699, the M5 Max Mac Studio from $2,499, and the M5 Ultra Mac Studio from $5,499.

Apple also provides additional purchase benefits that Amazon does not, including financing with Apple Card, the Apple Upgrade program, and trade-in credits. 9to5Mac noted that trading in an existing Mac can save more than $500 on a new M6 Mac mini.
