Nike’s Caitlin 1s Nearly Sell Out Within Hours of U.S. Release
Nike’s Caitlin 1s, Caitlin Clark’s first signature shoe, nearly sold out within hours of their U.S. release, with resale listings above $200.
Nike released the Caitlin 1 at 10 a.m. ET on Nike.com. About an hour later, only extra-large sizes above size 15 remained. It is unclear how much inventory Nike made available. The shoe also nearly sold out at retailers including Foot Locker, Champs Sports and Hibbett. On resale sites such as eBay, Caitlin 1s were listed for $200 and up.
The sneaker retails for $140 and is available in adult sizes; kids’ sizes are listed as coming soon. It comes in two colors: Caitlin Blue or bright yellow. Nike released the shoe with little fanfare.
“A lot of thought and time has gone into this shoe,” Clark said in a press release when Nike unveiled the shoe. “I never thought I would have my own signature shoe, and now that I do, it’s pretty special.”
Nike first signed Clark in 2022, when she was still a college player at the University of Iowa. She signed a reported eight-year, $28 million deal in April 2024.
The release comes as Clark and the Indiana Fever prepare for a win-or-go-home Game 3 playoff game Thursday at 9 p.m. ET in Las Vegas against the Aces.
The signature shoe debut also comes before Nike releases its first-quarter earnings after Thursday’s closing bell. Nike’s stock is down more than 50 percent over the last twelve months.
