Nimble SharePower review: A 2-in-1 battery pack that splits in half
Nimble's SharePower is a 10,000mAh battery pack that splits into two 5,000mAh halves, letting two people charge devices separately. An Engadget review praises its convenience with minor caveats.
The SharePower features a rectangular shell made from 100 percent recycled materials, with a built-in carrying strap that actually functions as a USB-C cable. When the two halves are pulled apart, the magnetic connection reveals a captured cable on one side and a flip-up USB-C jack on the other. Pressing a button on the exterior displays a digital power readout on a decorative hexagon, while a second button inside shows estimated charge status via indicator lights.
The device measures 3.1 x 2.8 x 1 inches and weighs 7.6 ounces, similar to a deck of playing cards. It supports up to 35 watts of total power output distributed among its three USB-C ports when intact. Split apart, each half delivers up to 20 watts. Nimble also includes a pair of pogo pins that equalize power between the two halves when reconnected, ensuring each side has the same charge level the next time they are separated.
Engadget's reviewer noted that while the advertised 35-watt max is achievable when charging multiple devices, a single connected device tops out at 20 watts. The lack of wireless charging is attributed to the two-in-one design. Two minor criticisms were raised: the magnetic connection could be stronger, and the captured cable used as a strap may be prone to damage.
The review concluded that the SharePower offers nearly everything expected from a solid battery pack, including respectable capacity and the ability to charge up to three devices at once. It also noted that the product appears on Apple.com's accessory page, which is often seen as an unofficial endorsement.
