No Man's Sky to Launch on iPhone and iPad October 28 for $19.99
No Man's Sky will launch on iPhone and iPad on October 28 for $19.99 with a free trial. It will run on iPhone 11 and third-generation iPad Air, but multiplayer is unsupported and some settlement features require iPhone 15 Pro or later.
The iOS version will run on devices as far back as the iPhone 11 and the third-generation iPad Air. Ars Technica reports that while No Man's Sky may not offer the most cutting-edge AAA graphics, its visuals are still strong and have improved substantially since launch through updates. The publication described the game's ability to generate galaxies of incomprehensible scale on-device, consistently for all players from a single seed, as remarkable on a phone, especially for users who remember phones performing far behind consoles and desktop PCs.
The mobile release includes all content and systems updates added over the years, including expansions that helped transform the game from a rocky launch reception into a widely beloved redemption story. There are compromises, however, similar to the Nintendo Switch version.
Hello Games says the ability to build and explore player-made planetary settlements is limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and later. Multiplayer is not supported on any iOS device. "We are excited to see player feedback on iOS, and will support it appropriately based on how many folks are playing," the company says. That leaves open the possibility that not all future content updates will be supported if the player base is not large enough to justify them.
