Notability brings calendar-based recording and note organization to Mac and Windows

Notability now lets users record meetings from calendar events, bundling transcripts and notes into one document.

The company said students and professionals can connect their calendar, tap an event to start a recording, and a note opens automatically for input. When the meeting ends, Notability combines the call's transcript and any typed notes into a single comprehensive note linked to the corresponding event.

The new workflow captures system audio directly from the computer, avoiding the need for a bot to join the call, Notability said. The company also noted that every new note defaults to recording, so no extra step is needed to begin capture. A syllabus import feature, coming soon, will automatically structure an entire term into lectures, study sessions, and exams.

According to 9to5Mac, the feature is available to Plus and Pro subscribers, with a free tier that lets new users try the features before reaching a paywall. Plus costs $5.99 per month or $15.99 per year; Pro costs $15.99 per month or $79.99 per year. Pro users get unlimited live audio transcription, while Plus subscribers are subject to an unspecified usage limit.
