Nothing Starts Stable Nothing OS 5.0 Rollout for Phone 3, Its First Android 17 Handset
Nothing has begun pushing the stable Nothing OS 5.0 update to Phone 3 users, making it the company's first phone on Android 17. The staged release adds a redesigned launcher, new widgets and camera upgrades.
The release keeps to the roadmap Nothing laid out in August, when it unveiled Nothing OS 5.0. At the time, the Phone 3 was designated to lead the rollout through an Open Beta, with the stable version penciled in for mid-October. The company is now delivering on that schedule.
Nothing said the general release is rolling out to Phone 3 users, but it is being distributed in stages, so availability will vary by region and device. Users who do not want to wait can check manually by going to Settings > System > System update.
The update brings a redesigned Launcher, split Quick Settings and notification panels, new widgets, camera upgrades and deeper customization options, alongside several features introduced with Android 17.
Download sizes differ depending on the build a user is coming from. Rollout screenshots circulating on social media indicate the update weighs 2.84GB for non-beta users, while those on the beta receive a download of roughly 1.68GB.
