Nvidia RTX Spark Superchip Debuts for Laptops; Lenovo ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 Reviewed

According to TechRadar, the first laptops confirmed to use RTX Spark are the Asus ProArt P16, Dell XPS 16, HP OmniBook X 14, Lenovo Yoga Pro 9n, Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra and MSI Prestige N16 Flip AI+. Nvidia has described the chip as "a new beginning" for laptops, pairing its AI ecosystem with features such as DLSS, Reflex and G-Sync.

In an August 26 video, Nvidia said RTX Spark is "Game Ready" and designed for "creators and developers who work on large projects who also game." Alexander Mejia, a senior product manager at Nvidia, said "Triple-A gaming is great on RTX Spark." The video showed Alan Wake II, Cyberpunk 2077, Doom: The Dark Ages, Fortnite, Apex Legends and other titles running on the platform. Nvidia said users can expect 100 FPS at 1440p with ray tracing and DLSS, but did not offer more detailed benchmark figures.

TechRadar's coverage struck a cautious tone, noting that Nvidia is now the largest company in the world by market capitalization, ahead of Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon. The publication pointed to Nvidia's expansion into autonomous driving with Nvidia Drive and edge computing with Jetson modules as evidence that the company is pursuing a broader ambition to become "the sole provider of hardware for every facet of our modern lives." TechRadar argued that while RTX Spark will change laptops, that change may not be entirely positive.

Separately, TechRadar reviewed Lenovo's ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 and called it "a surprisingly slim mobile workstation." The laptop combines an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor with an RTX PRO 500 Blackwell GPU and an optional OLED panel. It starts at roughly $3,000 for a model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The reviewer said the machine handled multiple AI workflows at once without major slowdowns and remained light enough for all-day carry despite its 16-inch screen. Drawbacks, according to TechRadar, include the price, a GPU that is not outstanding, below-expectation battery life, and a chassis that is still physically bulky.
