Nvidia to Sell Twice as Many Chips Next Year, Huang Says

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company will sell twice as many chips next year as this year, pointing to continued rapid growth. He spoke at an AI safety summit in Scotland with King Charles III.

Speaking to the media at a summit in Scotland with King Charles III, Huang said, 'I expect Nvidia to sell twice as many chips as this next year as we do this year.' He added that AI has 'so much contribution to the benefits of different industries, different economies,' and that in almost every country where Nvidia operates, 'people want to invest in AI.'

The prediction follows Nvidia's disclosure that it expects 70% growth in the fiscal year ending in January 2028, or about $673 billion, CNBC reported. The company's outlook has caused analyst expectations to shoot up.

Nvidia does not disclose the total number of chips it sells. Its best-known products are data center graphics processing units, or GPUs, including its Blackwell and Rubin chips. Last fall, Huang said Nvidia had shipped 6 million Blackwell GPUs in four quarters.

The company also makes a range of other semiconductors. They include central processors, or CPUs, switch chips, chips for optical networking, chips for laptops, Jetson chips for robots and cars, and the chip inside Nintendo's Switch 2 gaming console.

Huang was joined at the summit by representatives from Google DeepMind, OpenAI and Anthropic. He was in the U.K. to discuss AI safety, a topic he has weighed in on repeatedly in recent weeks.

The public discourse over risks to humanity has reached a fever pitch after AI researchers warned that humans are no longer able to control the most advanced artificial intelligence. 'When a product is not safe, we should hold it back and keep engineering it,' Huang said.
