NYT Connections, Strands and Quordle Answers for Wednesday, Oct. 7

TechRadar published hints and answers for the Oct. 7, 2026 editions of NYT Connections, Strands and Quordle.

For Connections #1214, TechRadar reported the yellow group was SAVE FOR LATER, with the answers BANK, SQUIRREL, STASH and STORE. The green group was KINDS OF BUNS, with CINNAMON, HAMBURGER, HOT DOG and STICKY. The blue group was GREEK NUMERICAL PREFIXES, covering DICHOTOMY, MONOLOGUE, TETRACYCLINE and TRIDENT. The purple group was BEST _____ TONY AWARDS, with CHOREOGRAPHY, MUSICAL, ORCHESTRATIONS and PLAY. TechRadar rated the puzzle Easy and said the writer finished with a Perfect score.

TechRadar also offered clues before the answers. It said the yellow category could be described as 'Hide it away for later,' the green category as 'Types of bread roll,' the blue category as 'Ancient numerals,' and the purple category as 'Stage honors.' The report said the writer took a slower approach by making notes for each tile, but still did not connect the purple tiles with enough conviction to claim a Purple First.

For Strands #948, the theme was 'Color for the cure,' and TechRadar reported the answers BUBBLEGUM, BARBIE, SHOCKING, QUARTZ and FLAMINGO, with the spangram TICKLEDPINK. The puzzle had an 11-letter spangram that touched the right side at the eighth row and the left side at the third row, according to the hints. TechRadar rated it Easy and reported a Perfect score.

TechRadar said the theme marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the 'Wear it pink' campaign. The pink answers became clear early, and the writer initially thought of 'in the pink' before locating TICKLEDPINK. The report noted that the puzzle used a range of pink shades within the standard Strands format.

For Quordle #1717, TechRadar reported the four answers were PALER, FROTH, DOZEN and ERASE. The hints said the puzzle contained three different standard vowels, one repeated letter, and one of the letters Q, Z, X or J. None of the four answers started with the same letter; the starting letters were P, F, D and E. TechRadar called it an oddly easy game and said most of the work was done by DOZEN, while no other letter worked at the beginning of ERASE.

The Quordle Daily Sequence for game #1717 had the answers HANDY, PUREE, SHOOK and SATIN, according to TechRadar. The report also listed the previous day's Quordle answers: FRESH, SKULK, BATCH and ENSUE for game #1716 on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Connections and Strands are New York Times games, while Quordle, described by TechRadar as one of the original Wordle alternatives, has passed 1,500 games. Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four, with color-coded difficulty; Strands is a New York Times word game that has been running for a year. TechRadar said Connections and Strands are playable for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
