Omni Group Ships Day-One Updates for Apple's 2027 Platforms, Adding Siri AI to OmniFocus

The Omni Group has updated its four productivity apps for Apple's 2027 system releases, with OmniFocus 4.9 gaining Siri AI support, Apple Intelligence date parsing and new Shortcuts actions.

Announcing the release in a company blog post titled "Hey Siri, We're Ready!", Omni Group chief executive Ken Case said the teams behind the four apps worked through the summer to make the entire catalog "ready for all of Apple's platform updates, compatible universally across the board." Case described the coordination as a substantial engineering task, since OmniGraffle supports three platforms, OmniOutliner and OmniPlan support four each, and OmniFocus supports five, all while the company continues work on major new features for each product.

OmniFocus 4.9 is the largest piece of the release. The task manager is now compatible with macOS 27 Golden Gate, iOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27. It adds Siri AI support, optional Apple Intelligence-powered date parsing, a range of new and updated App Intents exposed as Shortcuts actions, and design refinements intended to match Apple's 2027 system updates.

The Siri integration lets users ask the assistant to assign and edit due dates, flags, notes and repeat schedules inside OmniFocus. The app also draws on broader Siri AI capabilities such as onscreen awareness and Visual Intelligence, which Omni says will help users capture tasks faster. In one example provided by the company, a user can open a note containing hand-written action items and ask Siri to add those items to OmniFocus, or photograph a whiteboard and ask Siri to act on that input.

Siri AI can additionally use the user's personal context, meaning it can answer questions based on the contents of an OmniFocus database, summarize actions, suggest items to work on, and turn follow-up items recorded in meeting notes into reminders.

Elsewhere in the round of updates, OmniOutliner 6.3 picks up Liquid Glass refinements across Apple's platforms. OmniFocus and OmniOutliner also gain a new API that allows users and third-party tools to search the Omni Automation API, which Omni says should make it easier to find the documentation needed to write scripts. The company said that work forms part of its effort toward implementing the Model Context Protocol.

Case also said that, following last week's iPhone Duo announcement, the team has already begun preparing its apps for the launch of the foldable device. The updates were reported by 9to5Mac, which cited Case's blog post.
