OnePlus 16 Confirmed With 9,000mAh Battery, Executive Says
OnePlus executive Li Jie Louis said on Weibo that the OnePlus 16 will carry a 9,000mAh battery, 1,700mAh more than the OnePlus 15 and nearly double the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The phone launches in China on October 12.
The figure is 1,700mAh higher than the 7,300mAh battery OnePlus used in the OnePlus 15, a phone the outlet described as a polarizing release that nonetheless stood out for its capacity. It is also more than double the 4,300mAh battery in the Samsung Galaxy S26 and nearly double the 5,000mAh cell in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
OnePlus also confirmed that the OnePlus 16 supports 50W wireless charging and bypass charging, which routes power directly to the phone's internals instead of the battery during gaming or other heavy use. The company has not stated a wired charging speed. A regulatory filing previously pointed to 100W charging, according to Android Authority, which noted that peak wattage figures do not by themselves determine how long a phone sustains fast charging.
Earlier disclosures from OnePlus covered the rest of the handset's headline specifications: a 185Hz display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP 3x telephoto camera.
The OnePlus 16 launches in China on October 12. It will not be sold in Europe or the United States, following the brand's exit from those markets.
Android Authority, drawing on its own experience with the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max and its 9,210mAh battery, or 10,000mAh outside Europe, suggested the OnePlus 16 could be used for roughly three days between charges. That projection is the outlet's assessment rather than a figure supplied by OnePlus, and actual endurance will depend on display settings, chipset load and charging habits.
