OnePlus 16 Debuts With Sixth-Gen Snapdragon 8 Super Ultimate, 185Hz Display and 9,000mAh Battery
OnePlus launched the OnePlus 16 on Oct 12, 2026, its annual flagship with the sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Super Ultimate chip, a world-first 185Hz display, a 200MP LUMO camera system and a 9,000mAh battery. It goes on sale Oct 13 from 5,199 yuan after a national subsidy.
The OnePlus 16 is among the first phones to carry the sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Super Ultimate chip, built on TSMC's 2nm process, with a fourth-generation all-big-core CPU running up to 5GHz and a GPU that adds a new AI hardware acceleration unit. OnePlus said it writes its new Fengchi game kernel into the chip's low-level firmware to prioritize game resources under heavy load, and pairs it with a new Binghe cooling system. The company says the phone supports native 185FPS gaming, which it calls a "185FPS speed gun-god" experience, outputting 65 more frames per second than 120FPS and raising smoothness by more than 50 percent. Three in-house chips handle networking, display and touch: the G3 esports network chip with a new anti-interference antenna, the P4 display chip for fast-moving images, and the T3 touch chip with a 520Hz multi-finger sampling rate and a 29 percent lower average touch latency. OnePlus said the phone supports native 185FPS modes in titles including PUBG Mobile, Arena Breakout, Delta Force, CrossFire and Valorant Mobile, and native 165FPS in Honor of Kings. It is also the official tournament device for the PUBG Mobile Pro League and the Valorant Mobile national championship in China.
The display is a 185Hz fourth-generation Oriental screen, developed with BOE, using customized X4 emitting material and what OnePlus calls the industry's first triple calibration process. The company said it is the first flagship panel designed specifically for ultra-high refresh rates, with hardware-level 165Hz across mainstream apps and an LTPO circuit that adapts from 1Hz to 165Hz. It adds a dynamic clarity technology and a new eye-care system with 1-nit dim display, 3,840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and hardware-level low blue light, earning TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 6.0 certification.
The rear camera system, called LUMO, centers on a 200-megapixel main sensor that OnePlus says can output three crops from a single shot, alongside a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical and 6x lossless zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide. The phone runs OPPO's LUMO imaging engine and includes a 65:24 widescreen mode, a master mode, 4K motion photos and an AI retouching tool.
OnePlus said the 16 carries the largest battery in the series, a 9,000mAh unit with an OPPO power-management chip, supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, reaching 80 percent in 37 minutes, plus bypass charging during gaming. It ships with ColorOS 17 and AI features including an AI notes tool and an AI scan-and-translate function, and carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K dust and water ratings, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, triple-band GPS with quad-band BeiDou and symmetrical stereo speakers.
The design theme is "interstellar exploration aesthetics," offered in Tomorrow's Starlight, Mars Masterpiece and Dark Forest colorways. The main color uses a nanograting texture and adds OnePlus's first breathing light, with four states covering notifications, calls, charging and boot-up, plus effects tied to several games.
Li Jie, president of OnePlus China, said at the event that OnePlus again held the industry's fastest growth this year at 18 percent and is the only phone brand maintaining double-digit growth. He said more than 68 percent of high-refresh-rate mobile gamers choose OnePlus, and that its net promoter score has risen for three consecutive years.
Pricing runs from 12GB+256GB at 5,699 yuan for the first sale, or 5,199 yuan after the national subsidy, up to 16GB+1TB at 8,199 yuan, or 7,699 yuan with a regional subsidy. Intermediate versions are 12GB+512GB at 6,499 yuan and 16GB+512GB at 7,199 yuan, with regional subsidies bringing them to 5,999 yuan and 6,699 yuan. Pre-orders are open, and first buyers can receive trade-in subsidies, limited-time gifts and interest-free installments. OnePlus also showed a co-branded gift box with the animated series Fanren, which goes on limited sale at 10:00 on November 27.
