OnePlus 16 tipped to feature industry-first 'global' 165Hz refresh rate
A trusted leaker claims the OnePlus 16 will be the first phone with a global 165Hz refresh rate, covering the system UI and most apps, per Android Authority.
The OnePlus 15 already includes a 165Hz screen, but that option is officially limited to only a handful of apps. An unofficial mod has been used to force 165Hz in all apps, suggesting the hardware is capable. The OnePlus 16, however, would likely support 165Hz throughout the system UI and in most apps, delivering a smoother experience.
The leaker also indicated in a follow-up comment that users could still switch to lower refresh rates to improve battery efficiency. It remains unclear how OnePlus will tune the 165Hz mode across different apps to dynamically manage power consumption.
Other rumored OnePlus 16 specifications include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, a 9,000mAh battery, and a 200MP camera. The phone has been reported to not be available in Europe or the US.
