OnePlus 16’s Interstellar Lighting Effect shown in hands-on videos
Hands-on videos show the OnePlus 16’s Interstellar Lighting Effect across three rear zones, with fixed orange-yellow lights for alerts.
The feature is intended to notify users about incoming calls, text messages, game highlights and other alerts, the report said. It follows Google’s HiLight feature and Nothing’s more established Glyph Matrix design, but applies OnePlus’s own approach to rear notification lighting.
The videos appeared only hours after the first proper official look at the OnePlus 16, Android Authority reported. Until then, information about the Interstellar Lighting Effect had been limited to descriptions of how it would work. The new footage gives a clearer view of how OnePlus’s implementation behaves in practice.
The lighting feature appears to be exclusive to the Tomorrow’s Starlight colorway, according to the report. The OnePlus 16 is also not expected to launch officially in North America.
Android Authority described the rear lighting as a distinctive design upgrade on the device. The report did not provide a full list of supported alerts or technical details about the lighting hardware.
