OpenAI Adds ChatGPT Sticker Workflow for iMessage and WhatsApp

OpenAI added a sticker workflow to ChatGPT Images for making and sending stickers in iMessage and WhatsApp, Engadget reports.

Engadget reported that the easiest way to generate stickers is through the mobile app. Users open the sidebar by tapping the menu icon at the top left, select Images, and then tap Stickers under the Trending tab. They then choose a style, one or more reference images, and a set of emoji, which is meant to guide ChatGPT. After a few moments, ChatGPT generates a set of nine stickers that can be added to iMessage and WhatsApp. If users are happy with the output, they tap Add to chat apps and then choose iMessage or WhatsApp. WhatsApp asks users to name the sticker pack before adding it. iMessage will not be an option on an Android phone.

If the stickers are not satisfactory, Engadget said users can tap one sticker, select Edit from the menu, and describe the desired changes in the prompt bar. Users can also write their own prompt instructing ChatGPT to generate a sticker, a method the guide says can help keep the result faithful to the original source photo. Exporting works the same way: tap Add to chat app, then iMessage or WhatsApp. To modify output, tap the image and then Edit. If ChatGPT completely misunderstood the request, users can tap the three-dot icon and then Retry to start again.

Once users have stickers they want to send, they use the same flow as regular stickers in their messaging app. For iMessage, they open the Messages app, open a conversation, tap the Plus button, select Stickers, tap the OpenAI logo near the top of the compose window, and select the sticker. For WhatsApp, they open a conversation and tap the sticker icon on the right side of the compose bar; if a selection of GIFs appears, they may need to select a second sticker icon below. The stickers appear grouped under whatever name the user gave the pack.

Engadget noted that stickers generated through ChatGPT count against daily and weekly usage limits. Users on a free account may have to wait for their limit to refresh before ChatGPT can complete a request.
