OpenAI and Anthropic CEOs Push for AI Cooperation at UN After Trump Rebuffs 'Globalist Scheme'

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei told the UN Security Council that countries should coordinate on AI risks, one day after President Trump rejected what he called a 'globalist scheme' to control the technology.

Altman said countries that compete and do not always like each other have previously come together for shared interests and the collective good in the face of a powerful new technology. “We believe this must be one of those times,” he said.

Amodei’s appearance followed his proposal earlier this month to slow down the pace of AI development, which CNBC reported rocked the tech sector.
