OpenAI Models Reach Google Cloud, Completing U.S. Cloud Platform Availability
OpenAI models are now on Google Cloud, completing availability across all three major U.S. cloud platforms.
Google Cloud customers will be able to buy OpenAI frontier models through the model garden, with transactions handled through the Google Cloud Marketplace. Enterprises with Google Cloud spending commitments can apply those commitments to the purchases, according to the report. OpenAI models will also soon be available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent; OpenAI said the availability would give enterprise customers model-choice flexibility and let them use the best model for each task.
OpenAI said in a blog post that the integration will pair its frontier models with Google Cloud's built-in access controls, centralized data governance and high-performance infrastructure for demanding enterprise workloads. The company said: 'Google Cloud's longstanding investment in machine learning and AI has made it a destination for AI workloads and the developers and data scientists building them.'
Microsoft previously held exclusive licensing rights to OpenAI's intellectual property. Slashdot reported that the arrangement ended less than six months before its article was published, as OpenAI expanded partnerships with other cloud providers. One day after Microsoft's exclusivity ended, Amazon announced plans to host OpenAI's models on its cloud platform in April, according to the report.
