OpenAI rolls out Admin plugin, expands task scheduling to free users

According to OpenAI, the Admin plugin operates within existing account permissions. Admins can review activity and credit usage across ChatGPT Work and Codex, identify where additional enablement may help, and see when members or groups are approaching credit limits. They can also add or remove members, update groups, review effective permissions, diagnose access issues, and control feature or model access by role or group. Usage limits and spending requests can be adjusted and approved or denied with context. In a demo, OpenAI staff member Aarti Bagul asked ChatGPT Work how adoption and credit usage changed across teams over the past 30 days, then requested charts highlighting the biggest changes. She analyzed trends, asked for additional breakdowns, approved usage requests and eventually had ChatGPT create a presentation deck shared to a Slack channel.

The task scheduling hub was first added to ChatGPT’s sidebar in June, but was limited to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise customers. Now even free accounts can access the scheduling menu. Paid subscribers can configure prompts to trigger when things happen in Gmail, Slack or GitHub, and they can share scheduled tasks with other users. OpenAI suggests use cases such as travel alerts, notifications for new movies or TV shows, or a daily news summary. The Admin plugin is now available from the Plugins directory in ChatGPT Work.
