OpenAI rolls out GPT-6 to all ChatGPT tiers with interactive 'Intelligent UI'

OpenAI is rolling out GPT-6 to every ChatGPT tier with an Intelligent UI that builds interactive replies; paid users get GPT-6 Sol, Free and Go accounts get the less capable Luna.

According to Engadget, GPT-6 was trained to handle everyday conversation better and to compose more visual replies inside the chatbot. Depending on the question, a response can include graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts and other interactive elements. In one example, a user asking for help planning a dinner could receive an interactive table that calculates how much of each ingredient to buy based on the number of guests entered, along with checklists and follow-up forms for more detailed help. When plain text suits the question better, the model can decide to leave visuals out.

OpenAI said it gave GPT-6 the ability to answer while it is still working through a problem, rather than settling on its output before responding as other reasoning models do, in order to shorten waits on complex tasks. The model was also trained to build an answer across multiple messages, with each message adding information so that the final response holds together.

The company said interactive replies could make complex subjects easier to follow with visual aids, and that users can build specialized tools for their own needs, such as a calculator for investment decisions or for splitting a bill. Engadget reported that users can also recreate retro games such as Snake inside ChatGPT. "Instead of fitting every question into the same conversational format, ChatGPT can combine UI, data, and actions to create entirely new ways for people to explore, understand, and interact with information," OpenAI said.

GPT-6 with Intelligent UI has already started reaching ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users worldwide, and runs on a model called GPT-6 Sol for those tiers. Free and low-cost Go account holders were told they would receive access later the same day through GPT-6 Luna, which the company describes as less capable than Sol.

Editor's Summary

OpenAI has begun rolling out GPT-6 to all ChatGPT tiers with an Intelligent UI that produces interactive, visual replies such as tables, forms and charts. Paid Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users get the model powered by GPT-6 Sol, while Free and Go accounts receive a less capable version, GPT-6 Luna, later in the day. The change moves ChatGPT responses toward interfaces and built-in tools rather than conversation alone.
