Opera Relaunches Air Browser With Minimalist Redesign Focused on Distraction-Free Browsing
Opera relaunched its Opera Air browser with a minimalist redesign aimed at distraction-free browsing, adding refreshed visuals, focus tools, ad blocking and a free VPN for macOS and Windows.
Opera first announced Opera Air in early 2025, describing it as "the first web browser built around the concept of mindfulness." Since then, the company has been refining Opera Air and its wider browser family, including Opera One and Neon.
The relaunch builds on that minimalist design and aims to "keep distractions to a minimum to give people more room to focus on what matters," Opera said. In a statement cited by 9to5Mac, Opera said: "Air starts simple, with a clean interface and additional tools available when wanted. Messaging and social media apps can also be added to the sidebar."
The redesign introduces a new visual look. Refreshed wallpapers use open spaces, perspective and natural textures, and they automatically adapt to Light and Dark themes. Beneath the simpler surface, Opera Air includes a built-in ad blocker for faster, less cluttered browsing and a free VPN for added privacy and protection online.
Opera Air also retains its Soundscapes feature, which is organized into four categories and combines music and ambient sounds to help users focus or relax. Ambience includes sounds such as Sea Waves and Spring Forest. Five new Soundscapes feature original music composed specifically for Opera Air, including Hyperfocus, a more energetic track designed for settling into a task and staying there.
For breaks, Opera Air offers customizable break reminders that bring up breathing exercises divided into four categories: Destress, Refresh, Box Breathing and Relax. The browser also offers neck stretches. Both the breathing exercises and neck stretches can be accessed from the sidebar, alongside Soundscapes.
Opera Air is free and available for macOS and Windows, according to 9to5Mac. The report said users can learn more about the browser online.
